Showcasing 9 Projects
This was a group project I worked on when I was in Humber College’s Creative Book Publishing program, summer 2023. The idea was to create several books, design them and market them.
This one was a nod to the current trend of creating illustrated covers with incredibly bright backgrounds designed to catch a reader’s eye.
Done in Illustrator using SVG stock art, this was my contribution.

I looked at what constitutes crime books and thought about clues. Fingerprints, magnifying glasses, even the lipstick kiss all hint at something spicy and dangerous. The fingerprint was deliberately made to give a node to tiger or leopard prints, a reflection of the class of characters featured in the book.

This is the updated, 2023 cover, for my book on Amazon. This book is aimed at women who want to create a meaningful life for the second half of their lives.
The colour is bold to catch attention. The main font is distressed because, let’s face it, midlife crises are moments of distress. The X behind the word, “Crisis” hints at crossing that out thanks to the book.

One of three volumes of poetry I wrote, this book is available on Amazon.
Re-Lease was designed to look like an exhale. Each repeat of the photo, with wild colours, looks like it’s being exhaled from the previous one.

I wanted the cover to reflect a feeling of being unsettled without evoking any sense of horror. These poems are disturbing but not frightening.

I wanted to avoid cliches around beaches and waves, going for a more minimal look.

This is the updated, 2023 cover, for my book on Amazon. This book is a journal designed to help writers leave a state of stuck-ness.
The idea behind this was to evoke old-style typewriters without being a cliche. I also wanted to avoid using any hands writing because I wanted everyone to see themselves in this book.

This is an experimental book I came up with to help someone with anxiety focus on colours. As the reader goes through the pages, the colours change, and they can flip through fast or slowly in order to match their breathing to the colours.
The cover reflects the contents of the book and was designed to feel calming and familiar.

I have a long history of print and digital design, with a focus on books and publishing. Formally trained at Sheridan College, I worked for years before returning to school to update my skills. Now a graduate, with honours, from Humber College’s postgraduate Creative Book Publishing program.
I produce work quickly, to spec, without using AI or unprofessional source materials. All fonts are licensed and all work is created using Adobe products. Source files, including fonts, are included with every project.
